Haverhill is a larger medium-sized city with a population of 61,182 and is the 15th largest community in Massachusetts. Much of the housing stock in Haverhill was built prior to World War II, making it one of the older and more historic cities in the country. Haverhill’s affordability back in the boom of the 2000’s made it a hot bed of new construction during that time. Areas in Haverhill include, Bradford, Ayers & Rocks Village, Riverside, Rosemont, Ward Hill and Winnekenni Park

Unlike some cities where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Haverhill is neither predominantly one nor the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs, along with a growing arts community.

One of the nice things about Haverhill is the variety of life it provides in its 36 square miles of land. You can spend a day relaxing at one of its lakes or the grounds of the historic Winnekenni Castle, or visit one of it’s many farms. Go Snowboarding at Bradford Mountain. Or play on one of 6 golf courses, the most of any city in Massachusetts. In the evening head to the downtown for great food from one of it’s many vibrant restaurants on Washington, Merrimack, Essex and Moulton Way.

Most people in Haverhill use their cars to get to work. But a substantial number of Haverhill‘s citizens use public transit in their daily commute, riding the train into Boston or wherever they need to go supporting Haverhill’s green initiatives along with its recently adopted single stream recycling programs.

Haverhill has a very actively involved community who care deeply for their city and it’s people. Civic & Social clubs are in abundance including all the major civic organizations like Exchange, Rotary and Kiwanis and a unique group called Team Haverhill, dedicated to making Haverhill a better place to live work and play.
